2 June 2012 - Tunnel Mountain Campground, Banff, AB

We had a fairly easy ride today. After all the worry about what we could take into Canada, we pulled up to the border and after a few questions (no food questions), we were on our way in less than 5 minutes. Had a half hour delay due to Calgary road construction and a little rain as we headed west to Banff. We got checked in with a site which has full hookups, left the dogs and went into town. First stop was to buy diesel ($4.12 a gal) and than a currency exchange to get some Canada money for any place we cannot charge. Next was a trip to look at The Fairmont Banff Springs hotel. They actually let us in the place. On the walk from where we parked to the hotel, we say a young elk.

After that I took Karen to a real local place to eat, an Irish Pub. She wondered why we were eating in an Irish Pub when we were in Banff and I said we needed to practice. A real local place next time we eat out.

As they say, THEN THE FUN BEGAN! When we got back I could not find the key to the RV. Luckily Karen carries an extra set of all the keys. After what I thought was a good search of the truck, we loaded up the dogs and back tracked to several of our stops in town to see if anyone had turned in a set of keys. No luck with that, so we headed out for a loop around Lake Minnewanka to see if any wild life was out. We did see some big horn sheep and deer, but that was all. We will probably try it again tomorrow night, but a little latter in the evening.

Back at the RV and one more time to search the truck with a bright flashlight. The keys were found in my door under and an umbrella. Since I normally keep them in the overhead console, I have no idea how they got there. But we now have two sets again and I will rest much easier tonight. Tomorrow we will head up the Ice Field Parkway to Lake Louise and several other stops.
